We are delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Bowring as our new Chief Development Officer as we continue to expand our operations across the US renewables market.
Michael has amassed over 25 years of renewable development experience in the US and joins Renewco after two successful years with Adapture Renewables as their SVP of Development where he led the creation of a 2.9 GW utility scale solar and energy storage project pipeline. He has previously held senior roles at Key Capture, ConocoPhillips and NextEra Energy. Michael will be based out of Renewco’s Houston office.
Renewco has been active in the US following the acquisition of a 1 GW pipeline of solar projects from experienced Virginia-based developer, Beaufort Rosemary, in July 2022. Since then, Renewco and Beaufort Rosemary have added a further 1 GW of solar projects in and around the Southeast of the US, continue to grow the portfolio, and by the middle of this year will have approximately 500 MWs of projects with land and grid secured nearing the construction ready stage.
Fuelled by Renewco’s progress in the Southeast and supported by the tailwinds from 2022’s nationwide Inflation Reduction Act, Michael’s appointment is expected to be the first of numerous additions to Renewco’s US team as we expand our renewable development strategy into key US markets such as solar, battery storage (BESS) and onshore wind.
Welcoming Michael to the team, Gavin McCallum, Renewco’s CEO, commented: “Michael’s appointment represents a pivotal moment in Renewco’s expansion in the US. Our goal is to develop a 6GW pipeline in the US within 3 to 5 years with 2GW at the construction ready stage and we’re confident Michael can help us realise our ambitions while building a highly capable US-based team.”
